About KiwiEd.

How We Work

KiwiEd. was created to recognise, work alongside, educate and empower our vast range of culturally diverse families here in New Zealand / Aotearoa who have chosen home based childcare.

We believe that every child deserves access to educational resources and support guided by our KiwiEd. philosophy, fostering language, culture, learning from home and woven throughout all of this is our New Zealand curriculum Te Whāriki. Our commitment here at KiwiEd. also focuses strongly on te Tiriti o Waitangi, connecting us with our people, our land, our history, and our traditions

We are dedicated to creating a nurturing, stimulating and welcoming environment for all tamariki. Our program is unique as every child has their own individualised learning journey - catered to suit their needs and incorporating a variety of educational theories, while always keeping the child’s best interest in mind and allowing for hands-on, experiential learning.

We encourage the use of multiple verbal and written languages and link cultures together through preplanned and organically occurring activities. Children are celebrated as individuals, learning in their own way at their own pace, supported by a community of loving Kaiako and childcare professionals.

To find out more about us, keep reading or feel free to get in touch.

Our service and all our supplied resources are FREE for all families who have an Kaiako / Educator caring for their pre-school aged child. A Kaiako on our programme can be a Grandparent, Aunty or similar, a Nanny or Au Pair, or even a Home Based Educator.

Another great thing about KiwiEd. is you can be enrolled in more than one early childhood service at one time, as long as hours do not cross over, known as dual enrolment. That’s right, with KiwiEd. you can be enrolled in our early childhood service alongside a second early childhood service.

For example, if you have 45 hour hours of childcare you could use your first 30 hours of childcare with KiwiEd. and your additional 15 hours of childcare with another early childhood service such as another home-based care programme, kindy, or daycare centre.

Our KiwiEd. subsidy rates take some of the pressure off families by making childcare more affordable. Our rates are available to every enrolled child, are non-income tested, and are based on 30 claimable hours of enrolment.
